ABOUT THE RISE MOVEMENT

OUR STORY

FROM A SINGLE GROUP TO A NETWORK OF COMMUNITIES

2018

The RISE Movement had its first gathering

In 2018, we started our first RISE group and began our journey as missionaries to the artist community. Our very first gathering of 75 people, made up of artists and their families, only confirmed the need for an artist community of like-minded people on mission.

We began to meet together monthly in homes and parks. We hosted house concerts and invited our friends, and we used artistry to do outreaches in the city.

2020

We took a leap of faith

With the help and guidance of CBC Global, we registered The RISE Movement as our own 501c3 non-profit. During the COVID pandemic, we shifted toward empowering creatives to reach the community through our online platform. We hosted artist spotlights and even did a virtual tour.

As God began to clarify our vision, we began to build our team and train leaders in our community to multiply the impact of kingdom creativity in our city.

2024

Where we are now

Today, what started out as a single group for creatives has become a network of artist-led communities. In 2023, these RISE groups hosted over 20 outreaches in San Antonio and beyond, reaching thousands for Jesus.

Through our partnership with other like-minded organizations in the city, we are identifying creative leaders and empowering them to lead kingdom movements that bring good news to the artists in our city.

FUTURE

Where we are going

Our short term goal is to plant fifteen multiplying RISE Groups in San Antonio by the start of 2025. As we grow, we desire to mobilize a kingdom movement of creatives beyond our city that is on a mission to transform culture through creativity and the gospel.

We plan to do this by planting RISE groups in homes, art spaces, schools, and in churches across America as we continue to partner with other organizations that share our vision and values.

Our FOUNDERS

A Family On A Mission

We are Jarrell and Jeneil Flowers. We’ve been married for 17 years, and we reside in San Antonio with our daughters, Nyomi, Liviya, and our newest addition, Adira. For the first 13 years of our marriage and ministry, we managed to serve as youth, children, and worship ministries directors while Jarrell toured as a hip hop and spoken word artist.

During this journey, we began to see the need in our own lives for a deeper sense of community as a family in the creative space. We also saw the need for creatives to be equipped and empowered as missionaries into their communities.

In 2018, we started The RISE Movement and began our journey as missionaries to the artist community.
